Course Summary

This course explores the use of violence within interpersonal contexts and includes adults who use violence, young people who use violence and people who use force as a response to violence perpetrated against them.  It considers different forms of violence and traces their impacts. You will examine the social, historical, cultural and political discourses that explain and frame the use of violence.  

You will build knowledge of different interventions and responses to people who use violence, including their efficacy and impact on survivor safety.  

Importantly, you will consider your positionality in relation to people who use violence and identify your capabilities in responding to the use of violence. 

You will develop foundational skills in responding to people who use violence.
