In this course, you will investigate the local and global games industry, identify professional communities of creative practice, and plan your pathways into those fields. You will plan and develop a portfolio piece or a series of small creative works, demonstrating your skills in a specialised area of practice.
You will develop and implement a professional engagement plan, considering positive modes of contribution to existing communities and finding opportunities to extend your professional network. Emphasis will be placed on deepening your ability to present and articulate your skills and work.
You will develop an industry-facing portfolio targeting your identified area of games practice by contextually reframing works from your university studies and including discrete portfolio pieces developed in this course. You will research the local or international industry and prepare a portfolio or project that articulates a career trajectory.
This is a designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for the BP214P27 Bachelor of Games. This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community will be integral to your experience.
This course includes Industry Partnered Learning (IPL), Career Development Learning (CDL) and Industry Embedded Activities. The course incorporates engagement with industry professionals and organisations. Through practical, industry-embedded activities, you’ll deepen your understanding of the intersection of design and games while building networks to support your professional journey.
The WIL Ready credential provides guidance on inclusivity, health, safety and wellbeing, cultural safety, accessibility, equity, and reasonable adjustments, as well as expectations for student preparation, supervision and monitoring during the WIL activity, and reflective practice and debriefing during and following the activity.
