Course Summary

Writing across Fiction and Nonfiction focuses on forms of creative writing historically considered in opposition. You will evaluate the tools and techniques of these modes, while considering the differences, and potential lack of distinction, between them. You will examine writerly motivations, and identify industry expectations, to create a folio of genre experiments. Led by program experts and industry specialists, these dual modes will be taught through discussion of exemplary texts, generative prompts, workshopping draft material and reflecting on your own and peers’ practice and output.
