This course provides you with important data and information security concepts and gives an overview of how to keep information secure in a modern internet-connected world. It covers the breadth of relevant domains including; network security, cloud computing, cryptography and legal and human elements of information security. The basic information security objectives such as data confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, authorization, validation and access control are examined.
You will be introduced to cryptographic techniques and the basic philosophy of key management and how these are applied to different domains. In addition, the ideas behind hacking, cracking and social engineering will be discussed in the context of ethics and their place in Information Security.
This course will enable you to apply the knowledge and skills obtained to study further concepts in Information Security and communicate and interpret ideas related to the principles of Information Security.
