This is a studio focusing on the understanding and development of key techniques involved in the craft of media making.
In this course you will work individually and with others to investigate, design and produce media within a studio-based model.
You will develop your creative, critical, technical and evaluative skills, with a particular focus on developing one or more technical media crafts.
You will examine your work within broader industry and academic contexts, reflect on the development of your craft as a media practitioner.

This is a designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for Bachelor of Media. This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
You may participate in a professional practice experience, through an internship or industry focused project. You will also develop specific skills and knowledge related to career strategy, self-assessment and networking, which are all critical components for effective career development. If you undertake an internship, it will be of 40 hours duration and can be with one or more local or international employers. To enable flexibility, you can elect to extend your internship duration up to a maximum of 120 hours total. These additional hours will not be assessed but will be covered by RMIT insurance.
Your work placement will be assessed in COMM3008 Media Capstone. Note: If you chose not to do an internship, you will be required complete an alternative assessment as part of your Capstone course.
*An agreement including schedule and relevant insurance documentation is required to be completed before commencing each placement (local and international). International placements must be registered and processed through RMIT Global Mobility. In the case where a placement ends early, please refer to changes or cancellation of WIL activities in your WIL activity.
