This course will give you practical experience working in a news media organisation.
Your placement in a professional news media organisation in Australia or overseas will give you the opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge you have developed across your journalism program.
This is a designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for BP220 Bachelor of Journalism. This course includes the opportunity for work integrated learning in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
An agreement including schedule and relevant insurance documentation is required to be completed before commencing each placement (local and international). International placements must be registered and processed through RMIT Global Learning.
For international placements: You may require immunizations and/or current visa depending on the location of your placement.
In the case where a placement ends early, please refer to the WIL Procedure .
You must complete the WIL Ready cred before undertaking WIL activity (although the cred can be completed at any time during the student journey). WIL Practitioners and students on placement can report health, safety or wellbeing hazards and incidents in SafetyNow.
