In this course you will integrate what you have learned across the program and apply it to the craft of policy advising. You will build skills in defining and framing policy problems, selecting appropriate analytical approaches, and generating options that are evidence-informed and contextually relevant. You will develop the expertise to provide advice that is both analytically rigorous and strategically useful. This includes learning how to write clearly for policy audiences, how to support decision-makers under pressure, and how to reflect on the political and ethical dimensions of your own role. Above all, this course strengthens your judgement — the ability to assess what matters, for whom, and why — and to translate analysis into influence.    

This is a designated WIL course in which you will undertake industry-engaged activities related to a simulated policy analysis and advice challenge. You must complete the WIL-Ready Module before undertaking WIL activity (although the module can be completed at any time during the student journey). 

Activities include simulated workplace environments and expectations, and an iterative project directed towards the development of a key policy artefact. Feedback will be provided by both academic staff and professionals with current experience working in policy.
