In this course, you will deepen your ability to reason effectively in complex, uncertain and rapidly changing practice environments. Building on your earlier learning, you will analyse multifaceted occupational therapy situations by integrating evidence-informed practice, clinical knowledge, cultural safety principles and ethical responsibilities to make well-justified and defensible decisions.  

You will examine how contextual factors such as funding systems, service models, time pressures, digital delivery, interprofessional dynamics and community expectations influence professional judgement. Through case-based learning, simulation and critical reflection, you will apply procedural, interactive, conditional, narrative, ethical and pragmatic reasoning to manage ambiguity, competing priorities and risk across diverse practice settings.  

A key focus of this course is examining how your own values, assumptions and cultural positioning shape professional reasoning. You will strengthen your ability to practise in culturally safe and responsive ways, including consideration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and community contexts, and reflect on how systemic factors influence participation and access to services.  

By the end of this course, you will demonstrate advanced flexible and ethically grounded reasoning that supports safe, inclusive and person-centred occupational therapy practice as you transition to entry-level professional work.
