In this course, you will work with an industry or community partner to explore a real-world challenge within a health, community or technology context and identify opportunities for practice enhancement. You will investigate contemporary service, access and design needs by gathering stakeholder insights, observing environments, analysing organisational or product contexts and reviewing relevant evidence. Through these activities you will examine how human-centred and context-responsive approaches can contribute to improving accessibility, usability, safety and wellbeing across diverse settings. 

The course introduces innovation and design approaches commonly used in contemporary health and service improvement. Through guided workshops, field engagement and collaborative inquiry, you will develop skills in needs analysis, ethical and culturally responsive engagement, human-centred investigation and evidence-informed problem framing. You will learn how to translate broad practice, service or design challenges into a clearly defined, feasible and partner-aligned project proposal. 

By the end of the course, you will have developed a well-justified practice innovation proposal that demonstrates how health professionals can contribute to interdisciplinary problem solving and service improvement. The project proposal developed in this course will form the foundation for the development, testing and delivery of a practice enhancement solution in Practice Innovation for Impact 2 (course ID 057215).
