Information Technology (IT) now underpins nearly every sector—from healthcare and finance to sustainability, creative industries, and intelligent systems. Innovation increasingly emerges at the intersection of disciplines, where diverse perspectives shape meaningful, real-world solutions.
This course provides a structured experience in which you will conceptualise, design, and deliver a substantial IT project aligned with your prior (non-cognate) background and emerging professional interests. Acting as a bridge between academic study and industry practice, the course enables you to apply advanced IT knowledge in authentic, interdisciplinary contexts.
Working in teams, you will identify a problem or opportunity, develop a project proposal, and execute a solution using appropriate tools, technologies, and methodologies. Emphasis is placed on contemporary practices such as agile development, user-centred design, ethical and responsible innovation, and effective collaboration in diverse teams.
You will be supported in scoping a viable project, engaging with stakeholders where appropriate, and managing the full project lifecycle—from ideation and planning through to implementation, evaluation, and professional presentation.
Through this process, you will gain hands-on experience in translating ideas into impactful technological artefacts, while strengthening your capabilities in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and reflective practice.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
