The First Peoples Design Engagement: Design Studio is undertaken in the context of the Architecture Design Studios course sequence that continues through the BP250 program. This studio-based course aims to develop, apply and test your architectural design skills through Indigenous design engagement and cultural responsiveness.
This course has its own design focus and way of working, drawing on historical, theoretical, cultural, Country-centred and community-engaged approaches within Indigenous architecture. Teaching activities are developed accordingly to support the studio's line of enquiry into designing with Country and respectful engagement.
Each First Peoples Design Engagement Design Studio develops a program of study to suit its studio theme. You should refer to individual studio handouts for details of each program and its specific objectives.
As part of the First Peoples Design Engagement minor, this studio-based course provides opportunities to extend and synthesise your skills developed in the supporting First Peoples Design Engagement 1 and 2 studio-based courses. Projects strengthen partnerships with First Peoples communities through principles of consultation, cultural responsiveness, and designing with Country.
