There are a lot of big figures that get thrown around when it comes to virtual and augmented reality: $120 billion by 2020, millions of headsets being bought, thousands of applications for hundreds of industries.
As technology advances and consumer acceptance grows, the impact of the augmented (or entirely new) world will become far more clear, but there are signs that can give us an indication of where things are moving to.
We’ve spoken to RMIT gurus, searched for expert predictions and looked at the data to get an idea of what the future may hold for the industry up to 2020.
And one thing is clear: the future looks bright. Applications will extend beyond gaming and into the working world. We’ll find new ways to connect, create and collaborate. A new industry made up of professionals from many disciplines will be born, ushering in an age where imagination is our only limitation.
