This program is for electrical apprentices who want to broaden their skills in instrumentation while satisfying the Electrical Regulatory Authority Council’s requirements to be a licensed electrician.
This program provides you with the skills to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment. You'll also develop an understanding of instrumentation systems and core instrumentation equipment for process and control.
On-the-job training with your employer is combined with studying at RMIT. You’ll complete practical and theoretical classes to gain the skills and knowledge to work at a trade level in the electrical or instrumentation industries.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, workshops, presentations, group discussions and practical workshops.
You'll have access to online resources through the myRMIT student portal.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.
Professional recognition and accreditation
Graduates can apply for an electrician’s licence (A) through Energy Safe Victoria.
