Over a two-day learning period, the Working Safely in the Solar Industry skill set is designed to enhance your practical skills and capabilities to seek work in the solar industry with the installation of photovoltaic and solar water systems.
This skill set provides a pathway to further qualifications. It is not intended as a replacement for full certificate-level qualifications.

The Working Safely in the Solar Industry skill set is designed to ensure you have the appropriate skills and knowledge required to work safely in the solar industry.

The course Work Safey in the Solar Industry is delivered over 2 days, including 2 hours of compulsory practical on-campus assessment.
Students must attend both days.

This skill set provides a pathway to further qualifications enabling work in the solar industry.
Recommended for electricians, plumbers, building practitioners, trades assistants and apprentices across industries who install solar panel/water collectors.
Applicants must demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). This can be demonstrated via a personal statement, or 3-6 months of work experience.
Undertaking a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree can help you meet the entry requirements for your preferred degree. These qualifications often provide credit, reducing the duration of your bachelor degree.
As part of the Free TAFE initiative, the Victorian Government is currently waiving course fees for select short courses. Students who are assessed as eligible for a Government subsidised place will not be charged a tuition fee.

In addition to tuition fees, you will be charged an annual student services and amenities fee (SSAF), which is used to maintain and enhance services and amenities that improve your experience as an RMIT student.
The SSAF is calculated based on your enrolment load and the maximum fee for 2024 is $351.

You may also be required to purchase other items related to your program, including field trips, textbooks and equipment. These additional fees and expenses vary from program to program.
You may be entitled to apply for a fee concession or exemption if you are in a Victorian Government subsidised place and you meet the eligibility criteria.
If your application for a fee concession is approved, you will be charged 20% of the standard government subsidised tuition fee for your program. You will also be charged a lower rate on your student services and amenities fee (SSAF).
