Overview

Learn the basics of video editing with Adobe Premiere CC (Creative Cloud). This course includes content and exercise files for editing and hands-on learning with this software. You will also have the opportunity to bring in your own video footage, images, and audio. Ideal for students, professionals and anyone with an interest in editing video.

  • Introduction to Adobe PremierePro CC and setting up your project
  • Importing video, audio, and images
  • Creating a timeline and editing video/audio
  • Adding titles and 2D graphics
  • Animating titles/images and video
  • Adding transitions and effects to video and audio
  • Editing video to a music track
  • Multi-camera editing
  • Speed-ramping (slow/fast motion video)
  • Working with Green Screen footage
  • Finalising a project for output

Prerequisites

No prior knowledge or experience with this software is necessary for this introductory course. Basic computer skills are essential such as the ability to download content via provided links, create folders and organise content, and navigate your computer (i.e. hard drives and folders). 

Materials supplied

Materials required for the course will be provided. All relevant course notes are supplied with comprehensive instructions and exercises.

Materials to bring

You are requied to have access to a personal computer or laptop for this course. Other requirements for successful participation are:

  • Fast internet connection
  • You are required have an up to date version of Adobe Premiere Pro software with a valid license installed. For more information visit Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Microsoft Teams. Instructions will be provided to enrolled students once course is confirmed on how to download this free application
  • A microphone on your computer to particpate in group discussions
  • A second monitor is compulsory for these sessions as you will be required to follow along with the teacher. Connecting your computer to your TV using HDMI is a good workaround.
  • Headphones
  • A 4GB+ USB flash drive for transferring and storing files is recommended

Students with an interest in multimedia/video creation. Professionals who need to prepare multimedia material for presentations etc. People with an interest in editing documentaries/home videos.

Outcome

You will be able complete a basic edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CC using video, audio, titles, images and 2D animations. You will be able to output your media that can then be shared, and uploaded to the web and social media (Youtube, Instagram, Facebook etc).

Kevin Francké has won various awards in the field of TV advertising and has proven expertise in multimedia and related communications, both locally and internationally. He is a Multimedia Coordinator at RMIT and regularly conducts webinars on the use of multimedia editing and presentation software. He has been using Premiere Pro for well over a decade and has a unique combination of skills and expertise across marketing, promotion, videography and photography.
