Learn the fundamentals of kitchen, bathroom and laundry design. Explore the ideas and pitfalls when faced with the task of decision making for the most utilised rooms in the home. If you are building or renovating, you are encouraged to bring in floor plans to work on as ‘your project. The design layout of all 3 areas will be covered, including a guide to selection of all materials and finishes.

  • Principles of Kitchen Design
  • Designing Drawing Your Kitchen, scope of works – making a ‘Wish List’
  • Planning considerations and selection of materials finishes
  • Colour Lighting in Kitchens
  • Trends in Appliances Fixtures

Bathrooms Laundries

  • Design Considerations / Layout
  • Drawing your Bathroom /or Laundry Layout
  • Selection of materials finishes
  • Trends in Appliances Fixtures
  • European Laundries

No prior knowledge or experience is necessary for this introductory course. Desire to learn is the only prerequisite.

Materials supplied

Materials required for the course will be provided. All relevant course notes are supplied with comprehensive instructions and exercises.

Materials to bring

Pen, paper and/or laptop for note taking.

Suited to

Anyone who wishes to develop skills in selecting materials and finishes for the ‘wet’ areas of their home, and develop an understanding of considered design.

Additional notes

Maria Fey is an experienced Interior Colour Designer with 18 years in the industry. She has designed many kitchens, bathrooms and laundries throughout her career and has an understanding of client's requirements. Maria also works as a Dulux Colour Designer and has a passion for creating harmonious interior spaces.


On completion of this course, participants will have developed, learnt and have a good understanding of the fundamentals of kitchen, bathroom and laundry design.
