DESCRIPTION

The Mixed Realities: Virtual Reality Symposium program invites practising artists, creative technologies and cultural institutions to come together for a day of conversational exchange and practical insights.

As virtual reality evolves and becomes more accessible, a new generation of Australian artists have embraced its immersive promise and sensorial potential. Through digital landscapes, these creators are developing new ways to communicate and interpret our varied realities and are developing models for international presentation.

The Mixed Realities: Virtual Reality Symposium program invites practicing artists, creative technologies and cultural institutions to come together for a day of conversational exchange and practical insights. Presentations will explore the conceptual and technical opportunities of virtual world-building and the presentation complexities of gallery installation and audience engagement.

Hear from a range of artists that are pushing the boundaries of the VR medium, including: Emma Roberts & Ben Andrews (Petrichor VR ); Isobel Knowles & Van Sowerwine (Passenger VR); Sojung Bahng (Anonymous VR); Mohamed Chamas (cyber tasawwuf VR).

Produced as part of VR exhibition Terminus, the new immersive installation by artists Jess Johnson and Simon Ward at Heide Museum of Modern Art.

Cost: Adult $50 / Concession $45 / Member $40

Museum admission to Terminus and symposium included.

Presented in partnership with Heide Museum of Modern Art and Experimenta.
