Skills and learning outcomes

  • Recognise of the importance of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples being the traditional owners of this country.
  • Identify and recognise the difference and appropriateness between a traditional welcome to country and an acknowledgement.
  • Understand that RMIT campuses are located on Wurundjeri country of the Kulin Nation located in the state of Victoria.
  • Recognise and explore the geographical, cultural and language differences of a variety of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Understand and recognise that Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have inhabited Australia for thousands of years and have retained a living culture that is present today.
