Student Readiness

Global Communication Skills - International Education Professionals (GCS-IEP) is the first of a series of online professional development courses from RMIT Training, helping international staff in the international education sector to develop the intercultural skills to communicate more effectively and confidently with others both professionally and socially.

Student Readiness is the fifth and final theme in the GCS-IEP

program and focuses on helping students successfully prepare for studying and

living abroad.

This course is designed for upper intermediate to advanced English

speakers (IELTS 5 and above).

*Please note this course is currently being piloted. Please check back for announcements of official enrolment periods.

In Student Readiness, you will develop skills that you can pass on to your clients to prepare them for success when applying for international study. This includes strategies for selection interviews, portfolio presentations, task selection and visa applications. You will also learn how to prepare students to get the most out of studying, working and living in Australia. At the same time, you will develop your own speaking and writing skills for interviews and applications. This theme is for international education professionals, particularly agents and consultants who want to improve their clients' success, as well as develop their own skills for career progression.

In this theme, you will develop skills in

  • helping students prepare for selection interviews
  • analysing and writing selection tasks
  • understanding the challenges of new learning environments
  • preparing students for life and study in Melbourne.
