Course Description
This course introduces to students the significance of e-supply chain in business logistics. It provides students with the necessary concepts and techniques in e-supply chain design and implementation from a managerial perspective. Various technologies in the field will be discussed from the perspective of availability of tools. The course also emphasises on the use of case studies to illustrate the concept and approach to e-supply chain design and implementation.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Students completing the course will:
1. Understand the significance of e-supply chain in gaining competitive advantage for an organization.
2. Understand the relationship between e-supply and e-commerce and the available hardware and software infrastructure support for its implementation.
3. Have knowledge in e-supply chain design and implementation.
Overview of Learning Activities
Learning will occur through the use of the course Study Guide and recommended reading materials. The learning supports the course workshop or classes, where the lecturer will guide application of the learning to organisational situations.
Overview of Learning Resources
Course notes and a Study Guide will be made available on the DLS @ RMIT On-line prior to the workshop session. The Study Guide will contain information on prescribed and recommended readings.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment in this course will be directed to your ability to:
• assess the significance of e-supply chain in facilitating and enhancing business processes; and
• illustrate how concepts and techniques in e-supply chain design and implementation have been utilized to advantage in practice.
