Course Description

This capstone course is designed to further develop your practice and synthesise your knowledge of a wide range of practical, conceptual, ethical and methodological issues associated with translating and interpreting.

In this course you will examine the requirements of undertaking complex specialist translations including investigating the discipline and understanding the professional translation requirements.  You will apply this knowledge and skills to produce the translation of a complex, specialist text.

To do this, you will identify a translation project in your interest area, undertake translation and revise it. You will explore the intersection of human and machine translation and interact with senior practitioners to understand industry standards.

The translation is undertaken as a work integrated learning project where your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context. You will receive feedback on your translation from a senior practitioner.

In conjunction with the translation related courses, this course prepares you for the certification test offered by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), after you graduate
