Course Description

This is a second-year core course aiming to provide intermediate level understanding of materials physics including structure and phase behaviour of materials, their mechanical, optical and electrical properties and their classification for applications.

On successful completion of this course you should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an intermediate level of knowledge in the areas of materials physics.
  2. Analyse and solve problems in the area of materials physics in a timely manner.
  3. Process and communicate the results of experiments in materials physics.

Learning will occur through a series of lectures, tutorial discussions and laboratory classes. Written and online assignments will test your knowledge of the course content throughout the semester.
