You should have satisfactorily completed BUSM4789/BUSM4790/BUSM2657 Introduction to Fashion Enterprise or MKTG1442/MKTG1443/MKTG1503 Introduction to Fashion Retailing before you commence this course. 

Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.

Course Description

This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required to manage global sourcing and fashion supply chains. You will learn how to apply sustainable practices to global sourcing and supply chain management. You will analyse the steps of pre-production, production and quality assurance to understand the product development process, and apply this knowledge to the management of inventory systems, logistic and import operations.

Program Learning Outcomes

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

PLO1: Critically review, analyse and evaluate theory and industry knowledge relevant for fashion enterprise in the global fashion business environment.

PLO2: Apply a range of creative and commercial skills to successfully practice in a range of roles in the field of fashion enterprise.

PLO4: Communicate using a range of formats and strategies to diverse audiences within and external to the fashion enterprise field.

PLO5: Work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness through ethical and reflective practice.


Course Learning outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO 1: Investigate, analyse and apply sustainable global sourcing and supply chain management principles within a fashion and textile enterprise.

CLO 2: Analyse and evaluate global trends and information technology in fashion supply chain management.

CLO 3: Analyse the different management strategies and perspectives of people, quality and change, from local and offshore production perspectives.

CLO 4: Analyse and evaluate systems and techniques for planning and controlling the movement of goods and for maintaining inventory at desired levels.

CLO 5: Compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative forecasting methods, inventory systems and construct simple material planning systems.

Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class and online activities that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities promote your ability to enquire, investigate, analyse and solve fashion business problems.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.

 

Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome. They are as follows:

Assessment Task 1: Sustainability of Fashion Supply Chain Analysis (30%) CLO 1 and CLO 2

Assessment Task 2: Case Study Presentation (20%) CLO 3

Assessment Task 3: Global Sourcing Strategy Project Report (50%) CLO 1, CLO 4 and CLO 5
