Course Description

In this course you will integrate and consolidate your learning to research and creatively develop a project proposal that supports an ethical and sustainable innovative proposition. You will utilise current technologies and apply design thinking principles and techniques to produce a creative and innovative solution to address a contemporary business issue, challenge, or opportunity. This course offers you an opportunity to research and examine business issues from multiple perspectives and inform innovative responses to business problems. This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience. You will undertake and be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate your professional or vocational practice and be involved in authentic engagement with partner organisations, including industry feedback. This course provides you with a capstone experience, which will give you the opportunity to research, integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program. This will be the culmination of the industry e-portfolio that you began in the pre-requisite course Information Systems for Business Value.

On the successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

CLO1: Apply research and critical thinking skills to inform innovative, ethical and sustainable solutions to business problems using current technologies and design thinking principles and techniques.

CLO2: Create project proposals, project briefs, reports, business plans, working papers, minutes of meetings and other options to manage and communicate progress of project proposal. 

CLO3: Respond to and reflect on feedback to develop strategies for project proposal improvement. 

CLO4: Present creative and persuasive pitches, ideas and responses to communicate complex issues using current technologies. 


Overview of Learning Activities

In this course you will be supported to be an active learner whilst working on an industry-based project. Your learning will be supported through various in-class and online activities comprising individual and group work. These activities may include sourcing; researching; data analytics; data visualization; analysing specific information; utilising conducting presentations and pitches; producing written work, collaborating with peers and conducting meetings with group members and company representatives to progress the project to completion. 


Overview of Learning Resources

Various learning resources are available online through the RMIT Learning Hub (Canvas). These include seminar slides, assessment details, links to relevant internet information, readings and communication tools to facilitate collaboration with your peers. 

RMIT Library provides extensive resources, services and study spaces. All RMIT students have access to scholarly resources including course related material, books, e-books, journals and databases. 

Computers and printers are available at every Library. You can access the Internet and Library e-resources. You can also access the RMIT University wireless network in the Library.
