Course Description
This capstone course explores critical issues in fashion and textile waste, applying skills from your Fashion Innovation and Technology Major. You will investigate waste management practices, compare material life cycles, and reimagine product lifespans. The course also examines strategies for redesigning products for a circular economy.
Career Development Learning (CDL) and Industry Embedded Activities (IEA) are integral to this course, with assessments designed to connect you with industry and/or support your career development.
This course is a component of the major in Fashion Innovation and Technology offered in BP326P26 Bachelor of Fashion Sustainability.

This course contributes to the following BP326P26 Bachelor of Fashion Sustainability program learning outcomes:

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO 1: Compare and discuss the issues associated with fashion and textile waste and current textile waste management practices.
CLO 2: Investigate a range of processes to compare material life cycles and re-imagine product lifespans.
CLO 3: Examine and describe the concept of, and strategies for, a circular material economy.

Your learning will be facilitated via a range of in-class and online activities that will require both individual and collaborative engagement. Class activities will promote your ability to propose, investigate, plan, analyse, and realise sustainable innovative fashion and textile solutions.

Assessment tasks are directly aligned with each Course Learning Outcome. They are as follows:
