Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop gender equity strategies that contribute to sustainable gender equity in a work context.

This unit supports the attainment of skills and knowledge required to develop strategies aimed at challenging or addressing identified gender unequal norms, practices and structures within a work context.

It includes scoping for the gender equity strategy via stakeholder consultation and the collection of supporting data, which informs the design of a sustainable gender equity strategy appropriate to the work context.

This unit applies to practitioners and professionals with varying degrees of responsibility working in roles that have a responsibility for contributing to gender equity. This unit enhances the ability to develop gender equity strategies that contribute to sustainable gender equity within known work environments and work practices.

Overview of Assessment

There are five assessments tasks in this cluster.  They include knowledge questions, a gender assessment, development, implementation and monitoring a gender strategy and a reflective journal.   


Assessment Tasks

This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment.   To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment tasks to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher when you have completed the assessment tasks. You should refer to the assessment plan which is available on Canvas for details of each assessment task and for detailed assessment criteria.   Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions Assessment Task 2: Gender assessment Assessment Task 3: Gender strategy development Assessment Task 4: Implement and monitor strategy Assessment Task 5: Reflective journal   You will be given two (2) attempts for each assessment to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. A third (3) attempt can only be offered after discussions between teacher and the Program Coordinator and is not automatic. Resubmissions beyond two (2) attempts are at the discretion of the teacher and/or coordinator.   Grades that apply to courses that are delivered and assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment are: CA: Competency Achieved NYC: Not Yet Competent DNS: Did not Submit for Assessment
