Course Description
The unit applies to assessing work activities and completed work against workplace practices and quality standards.
You will develop skills and knowledge to apply quality system instructions when performing a range of production tasks. Team work and communication skills are also required to understand impact of your work activities on the broader production process. This unit also requires an ability to apply problem solving skills, initiative and enterprise to identify and investigate faults or inconsistencies in work quality. Learning skills are required to continuously assess own work against required outcomes and gain the skills and knowledge required in order to meet quality standards.

Details of Learning Activities
Integrated learning consisting of theory and practical components carried out in practical workshops, in a simulated workplace environment, in the skills and knowledge required to develop custom-made footwear product. Working within a quality system, appropriate quality checks will be applied In the development of footwear product and actions taken to rectify any quality issues identified.
Teaching Schedule
Weeks 1-16
Sessions for Apply Quality Standards will be integrated with the practical tasks associated with the production of shoes.
Students will learn the theory of identifying quality issues and and methods for resolving quality issues. The theory will them be put into practice by students undertaking quality checks, identifying faults, resolving quality issues and developing reports on the process while producing 3 pairs of shoes as part of their learning in the footwear program. Students will develop a Quality Check & Discrepancy form for each pair of shoes produced.
Week 16
Submit Quality Check & Discrepancy forms for final assessment.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is ongoing throughout the semester and will consist of both theory and practical based exercises, predominantly in class but some out of class research and information formatting is required as well. Feedback will be provided throughout the semester on all assessment tasks.
All assessment tasks must be completed before competency can be achieved. Tasks that have not be authenticated in class as the student’s own work will not be considered for assessment. Regular attendance is encouraged.
