Course Description

This course describes the knowledge and skills required to identify and respond to the needs of clients who may be experiencing domestic and family violence, including responding to immediate intervention and support needs..

This course applies to health and community service workers providing services according to established organisation procedures. These workers may not be specialised family violence workers.

Details of Learning Activities

Classes are delivered face to face.  During face to face classes, information is shared through talks and discussions, and workshops where exercises are conducted to apply learning. Time is spent during classes for students to work on group and individual assessment tasks.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1:

The objective of this task, is to help consolidate what you have learned during the course and to determine knowledge and skills in relation to recognising and responding appropriately to domestic and family violence in a community services context.

Assessment Task 2:

The objective of this assessment task, is for you to demonstrate knowledge and skills to effectively recognise, respond and refer a client experiencing domestic/family violence by performing a role play/interview based on a case study.

Assessment Task 3:

The objective of this assessment task, is for you to demonstrate knowledge and skills to effectively recognise, respond and refer a client experiencing domestic/family violence by performing a role play/interview based on a case study.

Assessment Task 4:

The objective of this assessment task is for you to demonstrate knowledge and skills to effectively recognise, respond and refer a client experiencing domestic/family violence by performing a role play/interview based on a case study.

Assessment Task 5: The objective of this task, is to help consolidate what you have learned during the course and to determine knowledge and skills in relation to recognising and responding appropriately to domestic and family violence in a community services context.
