Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
This unit applies to all workers.
This unit is delivered and assessed in a cluster with CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety.

Details of Learning Activities
There will be a range of learning activities to engage students with course material to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in providing services to people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The learning activities will be interactive and will include: group work activities, peer learning, discussions, case studies, reflective learning, quizzes and practice learning exercises.

Overview of Assessment
There are three individual assessment tasks consisting of short answer questions, oral presentation and role plays.
In order to achieve competency in this unit, you must be marked as satisfactory for each assessment task.
Students are allowed two submissions per assessment. Any further resubmissions is at the discretion of the teacher and coordinator.
Assessment tasks include:
Task 1: Knowledge assessment
Task 2: Presentation
Task 3: Role plays
Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1: This assessment requires students to complete short answer knowledge questions to consolidate and demonstrate knowledge, understanding and learning from this unit.
Assessment Task 2: This assessment requires students to prepare and deliver a presentation around cultural diversity of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Students will receive feedback from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander representative and complete a written task.
Assessment Task 3: This assessment requires students to adopt the role of a Mental Health Worker and complete role plays for 3 clients to demonstrate learning, knowledge and skills in respectfully identifying diversity and cultural safety issues in the workplace and model cultural safety practices. There are also written task you need to complete as part of this assessment.
