Course Description
This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and evaluate the organisation’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in accordance with OHS legal requirements

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through written assignments and participation in practical exercises.
Assessment Tasks
You must submit all pieces of assessment in order for your competency to be assessed in this course.
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered as essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.
Formative Assessment Tasks
1. Written Questionnaire 1: Legal Policies, Demonstration of safe working practices in the studio. Due Week 5 Semester 1
2. Written Questionnaire 2: Job Safety Analysis and Risk assessments. Demonstration of safe working practices in the studio. Due Week 11 Semester 1
Summative Assessment Task
1. Preproduction of WHS reports for TV Program. Demonstration of safe working practices in the studio. Due Week 14, 15, 16 Semester 1

It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with these regulations before submitting work for assessment.
In line with this requirement, the majority content of your film productions must be approved and signed off by your production supervisor (a Screen and Media teacher) one month ahead of the first day of photography
Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

Work Placement:
It is a requirement of this program that all students participate in authentic work related tasks. These may be either simulated or in a real work environment. On occasion, we are approached by industry and given opportunities for students to apply for short term placements. When these placement opportunities arise, students are required to negotiate the specific details with the relevant program coordinator or teacher. All industry placements require students, RMIT staff and host organisations to sign a written agreement prior to the commencement of the placement.
