Course Description
In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to interpret plans, client specifications, and undertake basic architectural drafting to produce industry standard working drawings for retail and exhibition design spaces.

Performance Criteria: |
.1.1.Establish purpose and scope of the drawings . 1.2.Use and maintain drafting equipment and materials according to industry standards. 1.3.Select and use appropriate drawing instruments. 1.4.Ensure drafts reflect accurate lines of standard widths to delineate object and projection lines. 1.5.Apply line work in a range of different types and media, according to standard industry drawing practice. 1.6.Add letter text in a variety of formats and according to architectural conventions. 1.7.Identify and use different drawing scales. 1.8.Incorporate appropriate graphic symbols. 1.9.Add notations and dimensions to complete drawing. |

Details of Learning Activities
In this course you will explore the use of drawing in the visual merchanding industry including 2D and 3D manual drawing techniques.
You will use technical drawing equipment as well as produce freehand drawings.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills.
Assessment tasks are:
2 x major projects
Please note: All Assessment tasks need to be completed before competency is achieved. A number of tasks will be formative to show your progress and development of skills and knowledge throughout the semester. The final task will be summative to provide a level of performance in addition to your competency.

1. Produce a scale drawing of a merchandising unit.
2. Produce a set of working drawings of a retail store
3. Produce 1 & 2 point perspective grids
4. Produce a series of quick freehand perspective rendered sketches of a retail merchandising area
5. Produce a set of perspective visuals of a store design concept.
