Overview of Assessment
This assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including written, oral, practical tasks and activities.
You will be asked to personally demonstrate to your teacher/assessor the practical skills gained during this course to the relevant industry standards. Assessment activities will occur throughout this course and feedback will be provided at regular intervals
Students must pass each of the following assessment tasks to demonstrate competent.
Assessment tasks
To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency. Assessment methods have been designed to measure your achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks.
|
Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1: Theory assessment
- The case study is excellent preparation for the exam so it is to be completed prior to the exam date.
- The written exam will consist of both multiple choice and short answer exam questions.
- A 60% pass mark is required in order to be assessed as competent.
Assessment Task 2:Case Study
- 20 QUESTIONS - M/C and short answer worth 1 mark each
- Online via CANVAS (questions are shuffled for each student to randomise the case study)
- 45 minute time limit
- Maximum three (3) attempts\
- When all M/C questions correct the teacher will grade the short answers
- 100% is required to be Satisfactory for this assessment task
- Teacher will reopen portal for one (1) further attempt if resubmission is granted
Assessment Task 3
- You are required to undertake a Practical Lab Assessment demonstrating competence in wound care, documentation and ability to linking theory to practice. You will have 30 minutes to demonstrate the ANTT to perform a sterile wound dressing. This is a skill that you will have had 9hrs of lab time to practise under the direction or your educators.
- Assessment times will be allocated to you 1 week prior to the assessment but refer to the table below for the dates.
- You will only be required to attend for 30 minutes but it may be allocated during any of the follow days or times
Assessment Task 4
- The expectation is that you will perform wound care management, including wound assessment, health education and evaluation of the person’s wound care in the workplace on 3 wounds, of which at least 1 must involve a simple wound dressing and at least 1 must involve a complex wound dressing.
- Refer to the clinical logbook for more information
