Course Description

In this course you will gain the skills and knowledge required to configure and manage advanced virtual computing environments and to provide a more efficient and reliable Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environment.

1.1 Plan and design a virtual network according to organisational requirements

1.2 Configure virtual local area networks (VLANs) and required security and virtual switch (vSwitch) ports

1.3 Implement required security policies, traffic-shaping and network interface controller (NIC) teaming

1.4 Manage required distributed vSwitch connections, vSwitch physical and vSwitch storage adapter connections

1.5 Configure and manage required multiple networks according to organisational requirements

2.1 Obtain vendor provided virtualisation software technical storage specifications and system requirements

2.4 Install and test local and shared data store, data store clusters and resource pools according to technical specifications

2.5 Configure required provisioning services and templates according to organisational requirements and technical specifications

Details of Learning Activities

This course has no hurdle requirements. There is no Exam for this course. There are three(3) Assessment Tasks in this course. Student is required to satisfactorily response to all Assessment Tasks to receive Competency Grade for the Course.

The supporting study documents and Video Tutorials will serve the purpose as Guideline only. You may require to perform further online research on the Study Topic ie. Google search, Youtube Video Tutorials, LinkedIn Learning Tutorials, Vendor Websites, Online Forums, Discuss and Consult with peers and your Class Teacher etc.

You are not required to complete all Lab Exercises of the Week in one sitting. You may continue and complete the Labs in progressive manner. You must complete and demonstrate all Lab Exercises by the end of the semester.

  • VMware Workstation (Recommended)
  • VMware ESXi 6.7 Server
  • Microsoft Hyper-V.

 

ISO Image :

  • Microsoft Windows 10
  • Microsoft Window 2019 Server
  • Linux Server ie. Ubuntu, CentOS
  • FreeNAS and/or OpenFiler Storage Server

 

Other :

  • Any other software as needed, which will be advised in class.

You can use Trial/Evaluation version of the software for al Lab Exercises in this Course.

A Computer with at least :

  • Processor with Virtualization Support (VT-x support)
  • 16GB RAM or more Physical Memory (32GB for better performance experience)
  • 1TB Free Disk Space.
  • A portable hard drive at least 512GB SSD or HDD
  • A 64GB or higher capacity USB memory stick.
