Course Description

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply knowledge of logistics.

It includes accessing and interpreting relevant logistics information and applying this information in the workplace.

This unit applies to emerging logistics specialists who need an understanding of the functions and activities of the wider organisation but is applicable to any individual in this field of work.

The application of this knowledge is required by people who are not currently specialists in the field but need the knowledge to inform their decision making.

Typically these individuals must demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team under direct and/or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Details of Learning Activities

This unit will be co-delivered and co-assessed with TLIA5035 - Manage international freight transfer - as a cluster is entitled "Logistics and International Freight Transfer".

 

The delivery of this cluster will be face to face on-campus. 

The activities will include some elements of lecture style, some research-based and self directed learning. There will be a large part of the activities incorporating simulated business meetings, in class.

The emphasis will be mainly on interactive learning.

Assessment Task 1 - Knowledge Test

Purpose

This short-answer assessment task is one (1) of two (2) assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this cluster of two (2) units.


This assessment task allows you to demonstrate your knowledge required to apply logistics and manage international freight transfer in the supply chain in accordance with relevant organisational policy and procedures.

• You must satisfactorily answer all 25 questions (all parts of each question if multiple)
• You should answer all questions in the spaces provided, using full sentences, word count and dot points when specified
• All work must be your own.

 

 

Assessment Task 2 - Freight Transfer Reference Pack & Guide 

Due: Week 15

Summary and Purpose of Assessment

This product assessment task is the final of two assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, to be deemed competent for this cluster. 

 

You are required to plan and manage international freight transfer, in line with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures, including dangerous goods systems and regulations. This includes accessing and interpreting logistics information, analysing freight transfer requirements, planning and establishing processes (simulated), monitoring and coordinating systems and processes, (simulated) and completing the requisite documentation. Refer to the case study below for the context of this assessment task.

These 2 courses will be co-delivered and co-assessed, all two (2) assessments must be completed successfully to deem these two units satisfactory.
