C6087- ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF SCREEN & MEDIA
This course covers all aspects of production management at the pre-production stage of a production.
This is the designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for C6087 Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media. This course includes a WIL experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

This unit of competency, Plan and manage film and media pre-production CUFPPM601A is delivered in the class Design Studio 3, together with Realise productions CUETEM08B and Originate and develop concepts BSBCRT501A. This unit introduces concepts and practices of pre-production and project management, which include storyboarding, animatics, schedules, treatments and technical, safety and budgetary requirements.

Students are required to observe demonstrated protocols for management of large media files and projects. Portable media rated hard drives, and data cards must be managed appropriately and subject to a weekly back up routine.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through participation in a range of class workshops and on-location projects that will help equip you with the skills to successfully manage a film production, using industry procedures.

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive feedback on all assessment and where indicated, you will receive a grade. Graded assessment tasks are equally weighted and will determine your final result for this course.

Preproduction paperwork for VFX shoot (integrated assessment with Animation & Visual Effects):
Students are to provide the following preproduction paperwork:
• Script and storyboard
• Signed location agreement
• Signed Hazard form
• Risk Management (OH & S) form

Team assignment:
This assignment is in two parts. Students will be broken into groups of 5, to include head of department roles – Producer, Director, Writer, 1st AD and Production Designer and asked to provide the following:
PART 1:
1.A As a team and working on the short script provided for formative assessment 1 and your breakdown sheets, compile a “wish list”
• Minutes of team meeting/s on the compilation of schedule and budget
• Schedule
• Preliminary A – Z budget
1B: As a team, work together on reducing the budge by one-third. Compile

Overview of Assessment
Semester 1
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include:
- Practical tasks, and a Design Research Project
- Direct observation including exploration of and experimentation with techniques
- Written and/or oral questioning and discussion to assess knowledge and understanding
Direct questioning combined with review of portfolios of evidence
Assessment will involve practical exercises, knowledge assessment tasks and practical projects. The overview for this competency will involve the development of pre production material ( design document and animatic for two design productions )
Semester 1
All Assessment Tasks will be based on a brief provided for each student, the following are the Assessment Tasks
