Course Description
This elective unit addresses the principles of paediatric dental care together with knowledge, skills, values and attitudes required of a dental hygienist to practise in a paediatric dental environment. This elective unit is intended to reflect knowledge and skills gained from the core unit competencies and extend these to provide an evidence-based approach in a supportive environment whilst providing dental hygiene care to paediatric patients
Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
This unit should be assessed after achievement of the following related competency unit:
· TAFEDH015 – Manage patients with simple to complex dental hygiene treatment needs
The unit should also be assessed in conjunction with competency unit(s) related to planning/delivery of the Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (Dental Hygiene).
