Course Description
This unit deals with the high degree of knowledge, skills, judgments, values and attitudes needed to provide evidence based dental hygiene therapeutic, preventive and supportive services, and educational intervention to patients with moderate to complex periodontal conditions and disorders, within the context of dental hygiene practice and conducted according to occupational health, safety and welfare policy and procedures and infection control policy and procedures.

Late work that is submitted without an application for an extension (see below) will not be corrected.
• APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME FOR SUBMISSION OF ASSESSABLE WORK - A student may apply for an extension of up to 7 days from the original due date. They must lodge the application form (www1.rmit.edu.au/students/assessment/extension) at least 24 hours before the due date. The application is lodged with the School Admin Office on Level 3 of Dental Hospital. Students requiring longer extensions must apply for SPECIAL CONSIDERATION.
• For missed assessments such as exams- you (& your doctor if you are sick) must fill out a special consideration form. This form must be lodged online with supporting evidence prior to, or within, 48 hours of the scheduled time of examination www1.rmit.edu.au/students/specialconsideration: The Pass mark for the exam is 60%. Assignment will be marked as Satisfactory/Not satisfactory.
Students will be given the opportunity to retake the clinical assessment if required. Students are required to achieve a Pass grade in both tasks to achieve Competence for this course
