Course Description

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to identify, select and use a range of self-care strategies to support sustainability of own practice and actively implement mental wellbeing and self-care in the creative industries. This includes implementing preventative techniques and evaluating their success against an individualised self-care plan.

The course applies to those who may be required to manage personal wellbeing and sustainable professional practice in any creative industry sector or area of expertise.

This course consists of 2 Units of Competency that are clustered together for delivery and assessment. The other unit of competency in this clustered course is: BSBPEF402 - Develop personal work priorities

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS. 


Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency.  To be assessed competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessment 01: Establish Life Balance

In this assessment, students will research “self-care” processes and explore planning/scheduling tools for help develop a work-life balance plan in the context of a creative environment.

Assessment 02: Implement and Review Balance Plans

In this assessment, students will record their implementation of self-care and work-plan and reflect on any impacts that may have affected their ability to complete work tasks on time.
