Course Description

The unit of competency applies to cost estimating for development of designs for textile products, including sample production.   This unit is taught as part of a clustered course with MSTFD5009 Cost production of textile designs. There are shared learning and assessment outcomes.

Details of Learning Activities

This semester in costings, you will undertake research into costing methods for both small and large scale textile production. There will be class discussions, presentations and excursions.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment 1 Costing analysis

Students will be developing costing sheets and calculating the cost of producing a product through both small scale and mass production and analysing the key differences.

 

Assessment 2 – Report

Students will undertake research and write a report in response to questions relating to the costing of textile practice in the context of a textile related business.

 

This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
