Purpose of the Program

The Bachelor of Fashion (Enterprise) offers you a focused, progressive program which is designed to develop the relevant management skills required to lead contemporary fashion enterprises. It provides specialised skills within the broad field of fashion enterprise and a deeper understanding of fashion retail management, fashion marketing management and fashion product management.

The program aims to develop you as a fashion enterprise professional who will have the skills, insights and mindset to succeed in the dynamic and demanding global fashion industry.

The program is offered on campus in a face-to-face mode of delivery. You will experience a variety of interactive learning and teaching approaches, both face to face and online, that include: work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities; problem-based learning; case-study methods; fashion business simulations; and global mobility opportunities.

This program builds the skills, knowledge and your ability to apply these in the workplace of a large, medium or small global fashion enterprise. Academic and employability capabilities such as: independent learning; critical and creative thinking; task and deadline management; reflective practice and research skills are focused upon, given that industry research has deemed that these are some of the primary requisites for an entry-level position within the global fashion industry.

A capstone experience is provided in BUSM4798 Fashion Project Launch. In this course, you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge, connect theory to practice and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes. This is a self-directed project of your own choice during which you will benefit from the mentorship of teachers and industry professionals.

On successful completion of the program you have opportunities to enter into a variety of professional roles within the global Fashion and Textiles industry, in areas such as product management, distribution, buying, marketing, retail, and digital analysis and promotion across the diverse sectors of entrepreneurial fashion practice, niche fashion areas, emerging markets and techniques across the fashion industry. There are also opportunities to begin your own start-up enterprise or pursue further studies at postgraduate level.

The program also provides opportunities for you to undertake Global study tours and/or exchange programs. Upon successful completion of this program, you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.
