The TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development program reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analysing training needs and designing training solutions and products to meet workplace capability requirements, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. They may have a role in providing guidance and advice to trainers and assessors in promoting innovative practices, e.g. e-learning, and in researching and incorporating best practice in training and assessment into training programs and products.

You must have:
- successfully completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or
- successfully completed another relevant qualification, or
- completed recent experience in the Vocational Education and training sector

The qualification is recognised in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations as a teaching and assessment credential for trainers and assessors in the national Vocational Education and Training system.
At RMIT, the program is supported by a Industry Advisory Committee which represents a broad cross section of the training industry. This committee advises on currency of the training and assessment within the program, and ensures that the program produces graduates who are ready to work in the field.

Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
