GSB Alumni Events

Date: Wednesday 1st October - Presentation by Mr Chris Booth
Topic: `Emotional intelligence - Some insights into past and current Emotional intelligence and Competence Frameworks and a discussion of their usefulness and traps'

Brief Outline: In the late 1990's. Daniel Goleman identified a series of competencies associated with the first model of Emotional Competency. Further work by Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee identified an enhanced model and proposed a primary leadership model supported by the new EC framework. The writer's current work now has considered the realm of Social Competence. This presentation will consider the classic and most recent research in the field and discuss the benefits and traps of using Emotional Intelligence frameworks.
