Dina KosmidisMBA Graduate Puts Her Best Foot Forward

Long hours on her feet as a flight attendant made MBA graduate Dina Kosmidis appreciate good, comfortable shoes. It was finding them that became a problem. The solution – she started designing her own!

“I developed relationships within the industry and learnt from master craftsmen the art of custom hand made shoes in the last remaining factories in the world. One of my mentors made Princess Diana’s wedding shoes – all 8 of them!” says Dina.

RMIT University has been with Dina every step of her career. She graduated from the Bachelor of Business (Marketing) in 2003, from the Master of Business Administration in 2005 and did a short course in Footwear and Construction in 2004.

“RMIT made it really very easy for me to expand my interests without leaving its premises. Every thing I ever wanted to do RMIT was able to provide it for me, from trade school to business school, they made me business ready to face the ever changing world outside its doors.”

Dina claims the best aspect of the MBA program is that it is relevant to business today, not 40 years ago.

“RMIT is in tune with businesses and has some great affiliations and guest speakers, they extend from the norm to offering networking workshops and never stop assisting students even when they leave via their alumni. I’ve learnt vital tools that have been useful not only in my current role as a relationship manager, but especially so in running my business. This education has been vital to my current success.”

Dina has now been designing shoes for 4 years, mainly for friends, customers and fashion shows. She hopes one day to take her creations to the global market.

“It is not really conventional, but that is why I love it. There is enough mass produced product in the world, I want to provide something different.”
