Self Advocacy and Inclusion: What can be learned from speaking up

Examining the emergence and growth of self advocacy by people with intellectual disabilities in Victoria. This inclusive research project seeks to examine further the contribution of self advocacy to social inclusion.

Experiences of Restrictive Practices: A view from people with disabilities and family carers

This study examined the ways in which restrictive practices are viewed by people with disabilities and family carers. It demonstrates the necessity to reconceptualise the rights of public authorities to restrict people by taking into account environmental and service related factors.

The Development of a Road map for Restrictive Practices

This project will develop systematic guidance around the new conceptualisation of restrictive practices building on ‘Experiences of Restrictive Practices’.

From Compliance to Culture: a framework for establishing milestones that measure human rights in practice.

A series of milestones were created through which local councils in Victoria could assess from their own perspectives and priorities how far they had moved towards establishing a human rights based approach. Performance indicators were developed to allow base-line assessment of performance to be established as improvements overtime.
