Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to obtain and interpret information about client health status and to check a client’s physical health. It requires a detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
This unit applies to individuals working directly with clients and who assist in the provision of health care services. Some disciplines may be subject to state/territory regulatory determination regarding delegation and supervision.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and
where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

Learning Outcomes
The critical learning for this course takes place in clinical placement within the health sector and within simulations in RMIT.
You will be instructed in skills through demonstration, modelling and roleplay.
Skills development is supported by lectures on theory and underpinning knowledge,
classroom discussions, group work, research and reflective practice.
On completion of this course, you should be able to demonstrate the below mentioned outcomes satisfactorily -

Details of Learning Activities
A combination of activities will support students learning in this course, such as:
- lectures to cover theoretical and practical concepts for each topic in the course. The students will be provided with self-study materials.
- Students will learn to apply their skills and knowledge to work integrated learning (WIL), during simulations and classroom-based learning
- Observations of performance in the clinical placement or simulated environment will be a valuable part of your learning experience
- tutorial activities (individually and in teams) to discuss, debate, critique and consolidate your ideas and extend your understanding around key concepts within specific topics
- discussion and activities support you to collaborate with other students in your course and debate and discuss ideas (optional activities only)
- Self-directed study time to enhance and strengthen your knowledge and understanding of theoretical concepts
- To further facilitate learning, students are strongly encouraged to use a range of communication tools between themselves and their course instructor as well as between themselves and fellow students by using the online learning platform (discussion board and videos provided for self-study).
Workplace learning(clinical placements) and assessments requirements-
The integration of work based learning and academic learning will allow you to solve authentic industry problems or address real issues faced in organizations.
In this course your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a workplace context.
As part of this course, you are required to undertake 120 hours of supervised learning/assessment in your chosen industry area, gaining invaluable experience and industry contacts.
An agreement including schedule and relevant insurance documentation is required to be completed before commencing each placement. In the case where a placement ends early, please refer to 6. Early Termination of Placements in the Work Integrated Learning Procedure.
This is the designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for C4367- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. In this course, feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
