Course Description

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to experiment with ideas and techniques to find an individual style or voice throughout a creative project that results in a completed work.

Details of Learning Activities

In this program, structured learning occurs in the classroom and through completion of assessment. However, as an independent learner you will also be engaged in unstructured activities such as private study and practice of technical skills required in using cameras, lighting and sound equipment and editing tools . You are also expected to familiarise yourself with different aspects of the screen and media industry. This includes spending time engaged in attending films and film festivals, watching streamed content, attending industry events and exhibitions and building relationships with industry bodies such as the Screen Producers Association and the Australian Society of Cinematographers.

2	Production management essentials – discussion and group work during class time to explore pre-production, principal photography, post-production and deliverables cycle. Script finalisation, story planning and previsualisation including storyboards and prototyping techniques. Students to submit scripts and outlines to teacher as part of one-on-one feedback sessions. Reading: Handouts from teacher. Please also refer to Screen Production Guide and Canvas modules section. Activity: Peer group learning exercise; including minutes taking and roundtable production meeting. Students will finalise pre-production requirements, brief team members and seek feedback from their crew and teacher. Please refer to Screen Production Guide. Activity: Developing production and creative documentation. Production meetings with members to take minutes and peer review each other’s work.
