Details of Learning Activities
In this program, structured learning occurs in the classroom and through completion of assessment. However, as an independent learner you will also be engaged in unstructured activities such as private study and practice of technical skills required in using cameras, lighting and sound equipment and editing tools . You are also expected to familiarise yourself with different aspects of the screen and media industry. This includes spending time engaged in attending films and film festivals, watching streamed content, attending industry events and exhibitions and building relationships with industry bodies such as the Screen Producers Association and the Australian Society of Cinematographers.

In this class we will work though what makes an industry standard resume & all the elements needed. We will also discuss how best to approach writing an engaging and targeted cover letter.

How to make a Website |
In this class we will learn how to build a portfolio website using an online web builder, we plan what content we will need to include and also look into the options of custom professional domain names for our web portfolios. We will also look at some existing portfolio websites for creative inspiration. |

How to make a showreel |
In this class we will learn how to best put a visual showreel together from your university projects and external projects. We will also watch examples of good and bad showreels and review as a class. |

Digital Marketing |
In this class we will learn how to optimise our web portfolios for google ranking. We will learn and discuss online marketing tools, including; Google analytics, Google adwords, Facebook Ads & Instagram marketing. We will learn how to use these tools to target our marketing demographic.

In week 13 we will have a guest come in from industry and discuss how they run their business & navigate the Australian film industry. |

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.
Assessment Tasks
Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessments to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessments.
Assessment Task 1 - Create a Business Plan. For this assessment you need to identify, and research the skills and knowledge required to plan and operate the business aspects of a sole trader or a cooperative or a contract worker in the creative industry and develop a business plan for a selected creative business structure. Due Date: week 8
Assessment Task 2 - Professional Portfolio and Professional Development Plan/Report. For this assessment task you are to write an industry standard resume, as well as a to create an online portfolio website featuring visual video show reel to showcase your creativity and a diverse body of your work. You will also complete a Professional development plan/report. Due Date: week 15
Assessment Tasks 1 and 2 to be finalised by no later than end of semester 1 Week 16.
