Top of pagePurpose of the Program
The Bachelor of Psychology is designed to provide you with a wide range of knowledge and skills in human behaviour. Core courses are designed to introduce you to the broad areas of human behaviour, then to focus in-depth in fundamental areas (developmental, cognitive, biological and social psychology and research methods). You will finally learn to apply the basic theory of human behaviour to areas such as assessment, psychopathology, psychotherapy and community/society.
The teaching approach in this program is designed to foster your development as an independent learner so you will be able to extend your capabilities once you graduate. The teaching method includes lectorial, seminar, tutorial, practical and laboratory sessions, and provision of online materials.
Specialist professional options allow you to explore the work of psychology in forensics, across cultures, gender, organisations and health. The program provides you with knowledge and skills to continue your studies in professional areas (e.g., Honours followed by postgraduate coursework; research degrees in psychology; or other education/health related areas) or to graduate and gain employment in a range of diverse settings.
In your final year of study, BESC1563 Research Project or BESC1557 Psychology Field Placement, provide you with a capstone experience, which will give you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program. These capstone courses are the culmination of your program and require that you integrate and apply knowledge and skills from previous years of your program.
This program will be delivered via blended learning and include a combination of interactive online and face to face classes.

Program entry requirements
High school graduation diploma with a minimum GPA of 7.0/10.0 for Grade 12, for other international qualifications please view entry requirements by country HERE;
English language requirements
A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0; or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English equivalents web page.

Police check: Students must complete a Vietnam Criminal Record before undertaking some of the practical components of this course.
Failure to hold satisfactory checks may result in students being limited in the opportunities available in the program.

This degree is accredited with conditions by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).
To qualify for registration to practise as a Psychologist in Australia, in addition to this degree, you must complete the Melbourne based BH000 Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours) and MC002 Master of Clinical Psychology, or equivalent. For registration to practise as a Psychologist is other countries, confirm requirements with the regional authority responsible for practitioner registration.
The Bachelor of Psychology has an Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) consisting of industry/profession and community representation for its undergraduate and postgraduate Programs. The IAC support the inclusion of industry relevant approaches and will have input into the review and continuous development of the new program.
