As an RMIT engineering student you'll have loads of opportunities to network with engineers and industry from the get-go.
At RMIT, we’ll help you to build industry networks. Through work placements, industry projects, internships, seminars and events, you’ll be in contact with industry every step of the way.
We connect with industry leaders to keep up with engineering trends and at the forefront of new technology – so you’ll learn how to leap into the real world.
RMIT understands that importance of industry connections, which is why we’ve partnered with the peak body for engineers, Engineers Australia.
Our undergraduate engineering degrees are accredited with Engineers Australia. Once you graduate, you’ll be eligible for Engineers Australia graduate membership.
Australia is also one of 15 countries that are signatories to the International Engineering Alliance, also known as the Washington Accord, for professional engineers. This means that after you graduate, your degree will be recognised in all countries that are signatories to the Accord.
At RMIT, we know that there is a lot more to studying engineering than just theory.
We want you to develop your confidence and skill in the workplace, while you’re studying. So, as part of your studies you’ll undertake work-integrated learning (WIL) activities to prepare you for industry.
Depending on your program, WIL activities can include a 12-week work placement, working on a research project with an industry partner, or gaining experience overseas through a RIIERP placement, among many other options.
This means that you’ll be ready for the workforce after studying at RMIT.
If you’re studying an engineering undergraduate degree, you must complete 12 weeks of work placement in order to graduate and receive your Engineers Australia accreditation.
Industry Advisory Committees
RMIT’s Industry Advisory Committees (IAC) ensure our engineering programs are at the forefront of new technology and in-line with industry needs.
IACs include a range of industry experts and through consultation with them we ensure that our programs are up-to-date with the latest industry trends.
Just another way we ensure we’re industry connected and relevant.
