RMIT University and RMIT University Pathways (RMIT UP) offer our global community of learners a variety of courses, language tests and education products to help you achieve your goals.

Through RMIT University Pathways (RMIT UP), owned by RMIT University, we deliver Foundation Studies and English pathway courses that enable students to articulate into university programs. We also provide English language teacher training with CELTA, and our English Testing Centre offers IELTS and PTE testing and services.

Our tutors are qualified and experienced teachers who come from all over the world. They can help you learn the language and study skills you will need to help you succeed at university. 

You will be considered an RMIT student from day one and have access to excellent technology and facilities including RMIT’s student services and support.

English Language courses

Reach the level of English you need to gain direct entry to RMIT with an English Language Pathway courses. 

Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (course CRICOS Code 076733A), is delivered by RMIT UP (CRICOS Provider No. 01912G). It consists of six levels from Elementary to Advanced Plus. Each level uses both classroom based learning and online learning.

English Language Pathway courses give you the academic English skills you need to prepare you for success at university by teaching you academic language and using materials relevant to academic coursework. You will also learn university level study skills.

Successful completion can give you direct entry to university and Foundation Studies courses at RMIT without the need to take a formal English test.

With centrally and conveniently located test centres in Melbourne CBD, our English Language tests - IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and PTE (Pearson Test of English) - are recognised worldwide. Taking an IELTS or PTE Academic Test at RMIT can help you with your career, your Australian visa application or your entry into an Australian university.

How to apply

You can apply for an English program at the same time you apply for further study at RMIT. 
For example you might apply for English for Academic Purposes leading to a Bachelor Degree. This is called a 'package' and allows you to apply for a single visa for the full duration of your studies.

Our location

Our English language courses and tests are held in our RMIT UP campus, located at RMIT’s Melbourne City campus, in the heart of Melbourne, at RMIT Building 85, Level 1, 97-99 Franklin Street.
The campus has easy access to the city’s many trams and train stations. You can also study RMIT English courses in China and Thailand.

Airport pick-ups

RMIT offers a free* service for students on an Award course pathway that collects you from the airport and takes you to your pre-arranged accommodation. Please refer to Prepare to arrive webpage for more information. 

Otherwise, you can catch a taxi or take the Skybus into the city centre.

RMIT Foundation Studies is your direct pathway to RMIT degree courses, giving you the skills you need to be university ready. Choose from study streams (covering art, design and architecture, business, engineering and science, health, information technology and communication and social context), that align with your study goals and interests.
